NBC Considers Reviving “The Office”

NBC is reportedly considering reviving the hit series “The Office”, but there’s a catch. The producers say the show would feature “a mix of old and new cast members” meaning the show wouldn’t feature Steve Carell, who plays one of the main characters of the show, Michael Scott.

In my opinion, this is a terrible idea, I haven’t even finished the show yet and I know the original “Office” cast wouldn’t feel the same without Carrell. Instead of reviving “The Office”, many, myself included, are rooting for a second “The Office” if that makes sense.

The show is famous for its documentary-esque style, which could easily be taken, given a new cast, new plots, but the same format.

Some, however, are rooting for a revival. These people, in my opinion, are blinded with nostalgia. They see “The Office” revival and are hooked, not even thinking about how that would even work.

Sometimes it’s best to just leave a show alone and end it, rather than beat the dead horse until it stops spitting out money. Take shows like “Supernatural” and “Doctor Who”, series that could’ve ended seasons ago, but are still being dragged along. I can almost hear them begging to be put out of their misery every time I try to watch them.

“The Office”, if done correctly, could be very profitable for NBC, Carrell or no. However, the correct route wouldn’t be the cheapest, leaving dread and doubt in the minds of those hoping for a new cast and plotline. But, who knows. The revival has only just now come out as being considered, so anything could happen.
