Benton, KY:

Legend has it, Happy Hallows Road in Benton, KY is haunted by a girl that died there. There have been sightings by locals who posted on ghostsofamerica.com who claim they “were driving and all of a sudden a bus was driving faster than a normal bus would and was traveling right for us. We pulled over really fast and it passed us. I turned around nothing was there. I heard my brother shudder. We look forward and Amy was written on the windshield beside a handprint. We drove fast to get out of there and we heard all kinds of giggling. I don’t go there anymore.”

We decided to check it out. On March 30th, three classmates and I headed off to explore the “supposedly” haunted road. Upon arrival, we were anxious to see what awaits. We put the car in neutral, and it rolled up the hill, then proceeded to go down the hill faster than it normally would have. We were a bit shaken, but that couldn’t compare to what would happen next. The car flew under the graffitied bridge, even when the driver was on the brakes, and a handprint appeared on the windshield of the nearly spotless car.

At this point, we were desperate to leave. We backed into a gravel patch and turned around. We were cautiously driving in the direction of town when a car honked from behind us. We began to speed up to get them off our tail when we looked back and noticed that the car was nowhere to be seen. There was no place that the car could have turned around, because we had just gone through the tunnel.

It was odd to find that the legend was true, despite our previous assumptions. Needless to say, we won’t be going back to Happy Hallows.

Mayfield, KY:

Legend has it, the grave of Agnes Mayes in Maplewood Cemetery in Mayfield is going to determine the end of the world. This gravestone is located in the center of the whole graveyard and is towering over the others. The woman was holding a bundle of grapes in her right hand when the statue was made, but during the ice storm of 2009, several fell off. Now there is only one grape remaining on the stem, and people believe that this signifies the ending of the world. When the last grape falls, so will our society.
