GCHS Students Prepare for the 2016-2017 Student Board Representative Election
Seniors Wyatt Walker and Tanner McAlpin prepare for their student board representative election by giving their speeches on GCTV, both promise to make student life a better life. McAlpin focuses on amending the length requirement of shorts for men and women, while Walker wants to work on including all students and helping everyone as much as he can.
The student representative chosen can typically do all of the activities of a school board, including participating in all decision-making, advocacy, and personnel issues that include but are not limited to rules, policies, hiring, and visions. Last school year, Beau Mohon was elected and took part on the board as student rep.
This year, the election will be different than in the past. The board will choose based upon the top two candidates, and since there are only two running, the board will interview Mcalpin and Walker and take their pick on September 7th.
Good luck to both candidates!
