Talon Falls Escape

Talon Falls Escape

With Fall fast approaching, we’re entering the season of football games, cooler weather, and haunted houses. A very popular haunted attraction in the area, Talon Falls Screampark, has just recently opened up a new attraction called Talon Falls Escape.

Talon Falls Escape is an escape game where a group of two to eight players are put into one of two rooms-The Morgue or Uncle Buck’s Boathouse- and are given one hour to use various clues to escape the room. If you escape within the sixty minutes, you win and the door of the room opens, if not, you lose. If you win and you escape you have the option to purchase an exclusive “I SURVIVED TALON FALLS!” t-shirt.

Unlike it’s haunted house and Adventure Park counterparts, Escape is open year-round on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Escape is not a haunt and it is not “scary,” however the theme of the rooms is of a horror genre, keeping with the aesthetic of Talon Falls. In order to go through, guests must to make a reservation online and show up at least 15 minutes before their scheduled time. The cost for Escape is $25 per person.

I recently had the opportunity to try to escape myself. Upon arrival, we were to watch a video giving a background story and rules of what we are to do in the rooms: what we can and cannot touch, what clues to look for, also just for entertainment purposes. We were then given a notepad and a pen (writing down clues and combinations is absolutely crucial) and a walkie-talkie for communicating with our game master. Whenever we needed a little extra help, we were to say “Game master” into the device and we would be given a clue or we had the option of switching our game mode. We started out on medium, which only gives us one clue for the entire hour, although midway through the game we switched to easy, providing us a clue every 15 minutes. However, even with this extra help, we weren’t fortunate enough to escape.

Escape is a very difficult game. It was challenging and seemingly never ending. The morgue consists of four rooms, each one increasing in difficulty. In order to master this game, a great skill in riddles is definitely required in order to even move out of the first room. A skill my group of three was apparently lacking. Clues were hidden in places one would never expect to look and clues were often a clue within itself. A generous amount of brain power is required in this game along with team work. Doing your own thing is not an option if you wish to escape. The dim lighting made it difficult to see the number and letter combination locks that allow you to escape each room, making this already challenging game even more of a challenge. However if I were to rate this new attraction, I would rate it a ten out of ten. It’s ideal for parties or just for a good brain tease, just don’t go into it with a big head.

Now this begs the question: Can you escape within the sixty minutes or remain trapped inside?
