GC bowls over regional competition, heads for state

Coming off a regional win last weekend, both boys and girls Eagle Bowling teams are preparing to travel to Lexington to compete for State Competition hardware.

Friday night, the boys team managed to take down Warren Central, Owensboro Apollo, Owensboro High and Barren County for the regional title win. Despite entering the competition with a 2-7 record, the boys obtained a four seed, which likely bolstered confidence, pushing them to a win.

The top seeded, 9-0 Lady Eagles followed suit on Saturday, claiming a regional victory over South Warren, Warren East and Barren County.

In addition to team play, GC has four students who will be competing in singles play. Regional singles champion and junior Sarah Watts, sophomore Trinity Davenport , freshman Allison Kelly and senior Austin Dunn will represent the district at the KHSAA state bowling singles tournament beginning Thursday.
