On September 8th, the 23-24 Youth Leadership group went on an Agriculture Day field trip. This is a selected group of Graves and Mayfield students from the senior classes. They will go on various field trips throughout the year to explore career pathways.
This select group of students had several stops during their day. One being H&R Agri-Power in Mayfield where the students learned how the Agriculture industry has affected the economy in our community. Their next stop was the Hudson School of Agriculture at Murray State University. The students got to learn about the Veterinarian and Equestrian programs. Lastly, the students went to Fountain Fresh Dairy Farm to get hands-on experience with the process of producing dairy products.
Jenna Shupe is the President of Youth Leadership for Graves County. She said her experience so far has been, “really amazing,” and that she loves being able to interact with all of the people they visit during their trips.
Many field trips have been planned for this school year from tourism to the arts. Senior Andre Cervantes is most excited about the upcoming Business Day field trip. He wants to learn more in-depth about the work that goes behind entrepreneurship.
