Youth Leadership students explore tourism within community

On October 28, Youth Leadership students took a field trip to learn about the wonderful attractions that Mayfield has to offer. They visited Purchase Player Theaters, Cartwright Grove, Featherstone Farms, Mayfield Ballpark, and A-Maize-ing Farms.

Senior student, Jayden Hester, says she was surprised about the variety of tourist attractions within our small community.

Students gained a new perspective on how much work goes into each of these sites. When at Cartwright Grove, Jill Kirby talked to the students about building inhabitable buildings and the volunteer work that goes into each weekend of production.

Senior Cayden Goodman says that Cartwright Grove allows him to experience what Old Mayfield was like and how people from surrounding areas come to encounter this tourist site.

The next field trip will take place November 11th, where students will learn about the community’s resources.
