On January 19th, Robert Bradfield, a field reporter for WPSD Local 6, came to Graves County High School to speak to students taking select broadcast classes.

Bradfield gave a presentation on broadcasting and shed light on what students who are planning on going into this field should expect in the workplace. He went into detail about his own past experiences, what his everyday work load entails, and talked about the struggles and rewards that go along with being a field reporter and anchor.

At the end of the Bradfield’s presentation students were allowed to ask questions they had about broadcasting in general. Stemming from student questions he answered questions about different aspects of broadcasting such as location, pay in relation to amount of experience, and problems or conflicts a reporter may face.

Brandi Newton, a senior at Graves County High School, who is a GCTV student commented on what she took away from Bradfield’s presentation saying, “He gave a lot of useful tips about what happens when you do something wrong, or you embarrass yourself on TV.” Students were able to take from Bradfield’s experiences and apply them to their own news broadcast they produce every morning for all GCHS students.
